Dr. Dipayan ChoudhurySENIOR SCIENTIST (Climate and Atmospheric Science)
I am a Senior Scientist in the Climate and Atmospheric Science branch at NSW DPE, where I primarily work on developing and post-processing the next generation of the Australian regional climate modelling projections (NARCliM). These simulations and the derived products are critical for better understanding, planning adaptation, and managing risks of climate change over the Australian domain, particularly the NSW region.
Prior to this, I have years of research experience focusing on interactions between the different components of our climate system over past to future timescales, including climate, ice-sheets and the carbon cycle. I have worked on the teleconnections between Australian rainfall and large-scale climate modes, and have developed a novel prediction methodology allowing for inter-annual Australian rainfall prediction. I have held research positions in the Climate Change Research Centre at UNSW, Sydney, and the IBS Center for Climate Physics, Busan, South Korea, and have actively published on my research areas. |
